Frieze uses a tightly twisted fiber that lies in different directions, which breaks up the surface so vacuum marks and footprints are much harder to see. What is the difference between plush and Berber carpet?

Plush is a cut pile: the fiber loops are sheared open, which gives the soft, uniform surface most people picture in a bedroom. Berber is a loop pile, where the loops stay closed, which makes it harder to crush and better at hiding traffic lanes. Plush shows footprints and vacuum tracks and feels softer underfoot. Berber hides marks far better and resists crushing in a traffic lane. It has its own weakness: because the loops are continuous, a snagged loop can run, so a tighter, smaller loop is the safer pick around pets.
